Below is a guideline of questions to consider when creating your website.
Homepage Criteria:
What is the purpose of this site?Does the title of the page tell you what it is about?
Who is the target audience?
Content:
Is the content appropriate to the subject?Is the content and language appropriate to its target audience?
Is the content meaningful?
Is the information organized well?
Is the content interesting?
When was the site first produced?
When was it last revised?
How often is it updated?
Readability:
Does the page take a long time to load up?Is the information clear and accurate?
If you go to another page, is there a way to get back to the first page?
Design and Layout:
Does the background or color obscure the text?Is the design consistent from page to page?
Do the pictures fit on the screen or do you have to scroll to see them?
Are there too many or too little pictures?
Does every picture have a caption or identified in the text?
Are the graphics necessary and useful?
Do the pictures and/or photographs included on the page help to illustrate its subject?
Professionalism:
If there was a goal to the site? Does it accomplish it?Do you know who the author of this site is?
Is the author an authority on the subject? (Do they provide credentials?)
Is the author the original creator of the information found on this site?
Is there a way to contact the author?
Is the spelling correct on the page?
Is the information factual or opinion?
Does the author include a list of sources?
Does the author include a bibliography for further research?
If there are links are they up to date?
Is it apparent why links were included?
Overall impression:
Is the page pleasant to navigate?Is the page well organized
Would you return to this site? Why?
Is there any overwhelming negative aspect to the page?
Did you like the page?
Did you dislike the page?
