George McClellan

 

 

George McClellan was a great general. He was born on 1826 in Philadelphia. George McClellan ran for president but lost to Abraham Lincoln. George graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and went onto Europe in 1885 to study European military systems.

He first fought in the Civil War and then took over the East Union armies. Next in 1861 he became chief of all armies. McClellan won a battle The Battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg)

McClellan didn't move quickly on the battlefield and Abraham Lincoln became impatient and fired George McClellan from the general position and that ended his military career. He was governor from 1881- 1887after the war.

George McClellan had no kids. He died in 1885 at the age of 59 years old.
