History of the CCC at Giant City Lodge
Giant City State Park, located in Makanda Illinois, was constructed
during the Great Depression by the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
The development, construction, management, and many improvements made on
the Park, have combined to make it a thriving business and well-known tourist
attraction in Southern Illinois.
