MUSEUM EXPLORERS GROUP
Museum In The Classroom Project: Museum Explorers Group
In 1996, we were fortunate enough to receive the Museum In the Classroom
Project Grant. We have started to wire our building and do the research
to complete our project. Mike Conlon and Mary Sue Fear are working collaboratively,
using History and Art classes, to complete the project. When finished, we
will have a local history of Shelby County and Cowden-Herrick area from
the late 1800's to early 1900. We are focusing in on farm and household
tools and architectural styles.
We have been linked with Southern Illinois University Museum and they have
been fantastic to work with and have always been willing to go beyond the
bounds of what they were expected to do. We would not have been able to
complete this project without the able assistance of all the staff at the
Museum.
We have been been granted the second year of the Museum In the Classroom
Project Grant. We are continuing to work on the history of this area and
adding new items to the list of articles already included in the project.
We have had another two days of training with some of the old, as well
as, some new students. We are excited about the new things we are learning
and are eager to train other students on how to do some of the things we
have learned.
